Who is Jai Harris?
Jacqualynn "Jai" Harris, commonly known as "Jackie of All Trades," is a soaring talent who has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. She is the founder and director of Serene Cinema L.L.C., a media company dedicated to producing unique and original content. Jai is also co-owner of Missing Link Cinema L.L.C.
Her artistic flair and sheer determination to succeed propelled her as a Poet, Radio Personality, Producer, Director, and Writer with vast experience spanning 17 years. An embodiment of hard work, Jai exudes diligence and strives for excellence in each task she undertakes.
A native of Denver, Jai studied film at the University of Colorado and Colorado Film School with an emphasis on Theater, Film & Television (writing/directing and post-production). She previously worked with Audio Art Group™ as a film producer, event coordinator, and graphic designer on several projects, including Masters of Art, Sound & Love™, a Denver Exhibit at the Redline Art Gallery, where she assumed the role Co-Executive Producer. Jai is credited for producing "SoleArtifact," which featured Lonnie "Pops" Lynn, a former A.B.A. player and the father to Rapper/ Actor Common.
During her tenure at VH1, Jai began as the story assistant for "Love and Hip Hop Atlanta" and went on to become a Supervising Producer for the network and has also produced for MTV, B.E.T., HGTV, LIFETIME, OWN, CENTRIC, WE TV, E!, T.V. One, Food Network, T.L.C., and Bravo; totaling over 28 network projects with celebrities, artists, and entertainers from all genres. As a story producer, she played a pivotal role in the development and success of many network shows that have gone on to have multiple seasons.
Jai also worked as an event coordinator and partnered with the University of Colorado in Denver to coordinate an event that hosted Hip Hop Legend and Rock & Roll; Hall of Fame Inductee Rev Run of RUN DMC at the Auraria Campus in Denver, CO. As a Freelance cinematographer, Jai has captured performances and events featuring industry artists such as Chris Brown, Big Sean, The Game & BWS, Mysonne, AD, Tyga, Kid Ink, Andy Milonakis, Terry Kennedy, Pusha T, Travis Porter, Mario, Erykah Badu, B.o.B (Bobby Ray), Lupe Fiasco, Wiz Khalifa, Big Boi (Outkast), D.J. Drama, Bei Maejor, Baby Bash, Pete Rock vs. D.J. Premier, Method Man, Janelle Monáe, Talib Kweli, Eric Roberson, Dead Prez and many more.
Jai currently works as a Network Producer for MTV and Discovery+. Among her numerous accomplishments in the industry is her poetry performance at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY. She has had the privilege to perform for Spike Lee, Danny Glover, Noble Peace Prize Laureate- Rigoberta Menchu-Tum, and Dr. Vincent Harding, among other notable figures. A talented and established poet, she was a member of SlamNUBA and ranked 4th in the Nation in 2007. Together with her team, they contended against the US, Canada, and France at the prestigious National Poetry Slam.
Due to her exemplary performance, Jai won the 2018 Juneteenth Music Festival #DREAMBIG Award. She credits her success to her resilience and self-discipline. Jai rose above her challenges due to her conviction that she could accomplish and succeed if she had genuine intentions, a great work ethic, and upstanding morals. Her goal is to create platforms that empower others to tell their stories and to educate, enlighten and elevate viewers.
